Year 2 Homework

There will be no homework this week as on Friday the children will be going to their new classes for the first time, to meet their new teacher.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of the support you have given your children with their homework this year. It has been wonderful to see so many of them being successful week after week.

We look forward to seeing you at the Open Afternoon on Friday.

Kind Regards,

Miss Rushton and Mrs Brown

Year 2 Homework due in on 6.7.18

As we come to the end of our time in KS1, we wanted to finish with a homework that is slightly different.

Next Friday 6th July the children need to bring to school a book of their choice.

They will share the book with a friend, and explain why they have chosen it, thinking about the characters, plot and settings.

Each child will then take it in turns throughout the day  to read their page aloud to the class. This will be filmed and put onto SeeSaw so that you can see their reading too.

Please could you practise the page your child will read with them throughout the coming week so that they are ready.

Kind Regards,

Year 2 Team

Year 2 Homework due in 15.6.18

Next week the spelling homework is linked to our work on adding the suffix -ly:

slowly, quietly, quickly, suddenly, happily

The maths homework is linked to our learning of times table. We will ask the children a multiplication question and they will need it answer it mentally, without drawing groups to support them. This is to support the new NC expectations that children will know all of their times tables, mentally, by the end of Year 4.

Questions will be from the 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times tables, e.g:

3 x 4 =

6 x 5 =

Over the half term there aren’t any spellings to practice.
Instead, please practice reading phonics sounds and real and nonsense words from the pack given at the beginning of the year. You can also find loads of real and nonsense words on the Internet, including games to play.

Have a lovely half term!
