Tens and ones
This week in Maths the children have been learning about tens and ones. They have been using different resources to represent a stick of ten and ones.
Our frosty walk
We went for a very frosty walk! We looked closely at what the frost had done to the plants and grass and we explored what happens when you touch the frost!
A frosty morning!
The children went outside to explore how the weather has changed. They described the frost and developed their understanding of how we get seasons, how things frost and melt if you touch them.
Planting
Yesterday we went into the school polytunnel to plant some bulbs and seeds. We discussed what they look like before we planted them and then we’ll look again when they start to grow. We planted a mixture of flowers and vegetables.
Our very own plants.
We have made our own plants. We had to think about the different parts it needed and what these parts were going to be like depending on where it was from.
Geography and ICT
This week we have been learning about maps. We went into the ICT suite and explored Google Maps. The children searched for the school, their house, budgens and the doctors.
Maths to 20
This week the children have been adding number up to 20. They have been focussing on counting on from 10. For example, 10+ 2= 12 ten+ two=twelve
They have been practising writing the calculations out in numerals and in words.
We have been using a stick of ten and single ones digits to count on.
More plants!
We have been making our own bean lifecycles using plasticine. We then used the iPad to take a picture, write about it and make sure they were in the correct order.
