Thank you for all your hard work and support this term.

We hope you all have a very happy Christmas and come back well rested in January.

Over the holidays, we do ask that you read with your children as much as possible, and complete activities from the phonics packs given out.

Merry Christmas Year 2!

There is no homework over the holidays but we do ask that you read with your children as much as possible, and you keep supporting them with their common exception word spellings as we will be testing them when we return to school.

Year 1 homework for 15.12.17

Spellings –

These will be tested on Friday 15th December.

Phonics
Next week the children continue completing phonics assessments to review their phonic knowledge. We will be completing assessments on phase 4 and 5, along with a phonics screening check.

Maths
Next week we will be reviewing what we have learnt about ordinal numbers, along with a review on what we have learnt so far in year 1.

Year 2 homework for 15.12.17

This week’s maths is simple addition (2 digit number + 1 digit number) e.g.

23 + 6 =

48 + 3 =

35 + 8 =

Please remember to bring all costumes into school on Monday in a named carrier bag.

Next week the children will be doing phonics assessments to review their phonic knowledge. We will be completing assessments on phase 4 and 5, along with a phonics screening check.

Maths
Next we will be learning about ordinal numbers 1st to 10th, using both numerals and words. We will be answering questions such as, ‘what animal is 3rd from the left?’

Learning Journey
Next week we will be continuing to learn about the Christmas Story and how it links to Christianity. This links to our literacy lessons and our Christmas Nativity.

The maths for next week is 10 times table, e.g.

2 x 10 =        5 x 10 =      7 x 10 =       11 x 10 =

Don’t forget to test your times tables knowledge on times tables rock stars as we will be crowning our rock star champions next week!
