Year 1 Homework for 12.1.18

Spellings –
School, haunt, game, same

These will be tested on Friday 12th January.

Phonics
Next week the children will be learning two new phase 5 sounds. These sounds are:
‘au’ for haunt
‘a-e’ for game

Maths
Next week we will be working on addition and subtracting with regrouping. We will be regrouping 2-digit numbers into tens and ones to help us work out the answer to each question.

The maths for next week is:

Three times tables

We will allow children in the homework tests to draw groups to find the answer.

For example, if the question was 4 x 3 = they could draw 4 groups of 3 to find the answer.

Merry Christmas Year 1!

Thank you for all your hard work and support this term.

We hope you all have a very happy Christmas and come back well rested in January.

Over the holidays, we do ask that you read with your children as much as possible, and complete activities from the phonics packs given out.

Thank you for all your hard work and support this term.

We hope you all have a very happy Christmas and come back well rested in January.

There is no homework over the holidays but we do ask that you read with your children as much as possible, and you keep supporting them with their common exception word spellings as we will be testing them when we return to school.

Next week the children continue completing phonics assessments to review their phonic knowledge. We will be completing assessments on phase 4 and 5, along with a phonics screening check.

Maths
Next week we will be reviewing what we have learnt about ordinal numbers, along with a review on what we have learnt so far in year 1.

This week’s maths is simple addition (2 digit number + 1 digit number) e.g.

48 + 3 =

35 + 8 =

Next week the children will be doing phonics assessments to review their phonic knowledge. We will be completing assessments on phase 4 and 5, along with a phonics screening check.

Maths
Next we will be learning about ordinal numbers 1st to 10th, using both numerals and words. We will be answering questions such as, ‘what animal is 3rd from the left?’

Learning Journey
Next week we will be continuing to learn about the Christmas Story and how it links to Christianity. This links to our literacy lessons and our Christmas Nativity.

Year 1 Homework for 1.12.17

Spellings –
Were, your, whip, phone

These will be tested on Friday 1st December.

Phonics
Next week the children will be focussing on 2 new phonemes. These phonemes are:

‘Wh’ for whip
‘Ph’ for phone

Maths
Next we will be looking at comparing two or more numbers using the terms ‘greater than’ ‘fewer than’ ‘how many more than’ and ‘how many fewer than’. The children will be using these terms with numbers to 20.

Learning Journey
Next week we will be starting to learn about the Christmas Story. This links to our literacy lessons and our Christmas Nativity.
