Our new spellings will be tested on Friday 20th April 2018.
Phonics
After the Easter break we will continue to consolidate the children’s knowledge of phase 3 and 5 sounds, focussing on blending sounds to read words and segmenting words to spell. We will also be working on comprehension skills, so the children are able to comprehend and discuss what they have read.
Maths
We are going to begin looking at repeated addition as a method for multiplication. This will include learning repeated addition skills, looking at multiplication stories, recognising the ‘x’ sign and writing repeated additions as ‘x groups of x’.
Example:
3+3+3+3=
4 groups of 3=
4×3=

Open Afternoon Year 1 and 2
We hope you have received our emails about our Open Afternoon on Monday 19th March 2-3pm. If you have any old sheets or pegs to help us build shelters, please bring them in. Also, please send children with wellies and gloves as we will be working on the field for part of the afternoon.

This week we will be completing spelling assessments.
Phonics
Next week we will be completing phonics assessments, including the phonics screening check and phase 5 sounds. We will also be working on comprehension skills, so the children are able to comprehend and discuss what they have read.
Maths
Next week we will be completing assessments of the learning we have done so far. We will also be working on addition and subtraction mentally.
