Phonics

Next week we will be continuing to focus on knowing and applying phase 5 phonemes. We will also be working on comprehension skills, so the children are able to comprehend and discuss what they have read.

Maths

Next week we will continue with numbers to 40. However, next week we will be focussing on place value and exploring this in a variety of ways.

Over the half term holiday there will be no spellings and maths homework set and therefore no test on the Friday of the first week back.

However, we will be testing the Year 2 common exception word spellings during the first week back, so any extra practise the children can do over the holiday would help them to improve their scores.

Next week we will be starting a new topic on counting to 40. This will include counting, recognising and writing the numbers, more and less and using a 100 square.
