Testing materials

The children have been testing materials. They came up with different ideas about the kinds of tests they could carry out using what they had learnt about the properties of the different materials.

The children either decided to make boats to test which materials could float or they made a roof for the three pigs house and tested which materials were waterproof.

The children decided to write their own story for their chosen character so that they could have a new home to enjoy.

Once the children had finished their stories, they placed their character on top of their completed book, sprinkled some magic fairy dust onto them and POOF! The characters magically entered their new story book homes.

We have been learning how to draw our self portrait. We looked carefully at the proportions of our faces so that we draw our features in the correct place.

September story hunt

We went on a hunt around school to find story characters. We used the props that we found as clues to discover which story we were basing our Literacy learning on.

Harvest Festival

Tomorrow is our Harvest festival. We will be walking to the church just after 9am tomorrow. If you would like to come along to the church  and celebrate with us, we would be happy to see you there. Any donations of tinned food or packets of food would also be appreciated for our collection for the Lincoln Larder.

Today in year 1 the children walked into this! There’d been an explosion in the book shop and all the characters had come out of the stories! The children were so excited! They were keen to find a character they liked so they could write stories and help them back into their books…..To be continued…

Fairies

The fairies came to visit the children this week. There has been so much rain that the fairies had to move their house inside the school so that they didn't wash away.

The children were sent a letter that was hidden in pieces around the school grounds. When they returned to the classroom they had to put it into the right order to reveal the message.

The children were asked to write a poem about their favourite aspect of summer to try and encourage summer to come to visit.

The fairy like our poems so much that she even came to visit.
